"When my mother passed away recently (at the age of 101½) I found a box of slides that were at least 60 years old. I wanted to preserve these precious old memories of family events for myself and relatives. The only way I could do that was to get them digitized, a process that was prohibitively expensive to have done professionally. I decided to try and find a way to digitize them myself.

I came across this website offering the Film2USB converter and decided to take a chance on this group about which I previously knew nothing. I can’t express how pleased I am that I did. Shortly after I put in my order, I got an email notifying me that the converter had been shipped. The package arrived not long after that. I don’t think the whole process took more than three days. I then prayed that the little machine would actually work – and it did. I have now digitized all those slides, most of which came out pristine. A very few seemed to have some slight discoloration but that could easily have been a problem with the original film since so many other pictures were just perfect. All in all, I am thrilled. The only slightly negative comment I might make is that I feel the instructions that came in the box could have been a little more comprehensive. In the very beginning I was a bit perplexed with some of it, but once I figured it out, the process was a breeze."

I had a scanner that did slides but hadn't used it as there was so much to set up, time consumption doing one by one, and it took so much space. "Within 30 minutes we were up and running with the Film2USB converter!

We have about 1600 slides to convert (16 carousels from 1960-1980, holding about 100 images each). After three sessions, we’re about 40% complete – initially we tried the 4-slot slide holder and it worked OK, but found that the single slide holder is what works best for us. My wife does a quick-scan (holds each slide up to a light source and makes the “go/no go” decision), and I take it from there!

A lot of relatives and friends are going to receive some jpeg files soon… and should be pleasantly surprised to find a lotta 50 to 60 year-old images they probably don’t know existed! Everything works as promised, so thanks for that.

Two years ago this month, my wife and I spent 4 days in your Traverse City... touring wine country, book stores, lighthouses, etc. Lovely!
